UNESCO to launch Peace Day ceremony in Azadi Tower

UNESCO has planned to celebrate the International Day of Peace at Azadi Tower in Tehran.

Screening some video images related to the theme of peace, the ceremony is to be held on September 20 during a public event at Azadi Tower.

Directed by Amir-Reza Salari, the video mapping performance called ‘Thirty Birds of Peace’ is based on Persian literature and history.

The International Day of Peace (Peace Day) is observed around the world each year on 21 September.

Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to peace above all differences and to contribute to building a culture of peace.

The theme for this year’s Peace Day is ‘Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All’.
